Manby Violin
This Manby violin has been completely restored by Sachar Amos. It has new fingerboard, nut, bridge, pegs, soundpost, and tailpiece. Nothing spared in making this a joy to play.
It comes in it's original case, which though still serviceable, may not be the best choice in looking after it for the next 100 years or so.
The label reads "Exact Copy of a Stradivarius" "RECD NO 8335" "Make 100"
This violin is in VERY good condition. It has a few superficial marks but is otherwise as good as new. I haven't seen too many violins around 100 years old looking this good. There are just enough marks to show that it is not new.
$900
Violin. 7/8 size.
This violin is a Skylark brand 7/8 size violin. The back measures 340 mm (13.5"). The playing string length is 305 mm. It will suit someone finding it a little difficult to manage a full size violin.
These violins were a cheap Chinese made instrument from the early 2000's. Some have now matured into reasonable sounding instruments. This one is quite good. It is nicely set up and plays well. It has a new set of Thomastik Superflexible strings.
This violin has not been played for many years and will improve with some use. It plays very nicely.
Comes in a hard case that is a strong plywood covered in material case. Please note that it does not come with a bow.
$100
14 Size Violin
This violin is a Skylark brand. It is in very good condition, fitted with a new metal tailpiece with inbuilt tuners, and comes in a case. Does not include a bow.
These violins were a cheap Chinese made instrument from the early 2000's. Some have now matured into reasonable sounding instruments. This one is quite good for a quarter size. It is nicely set up and plays well.
$60
Franciszek Mardula Viola
This is a 16" viola made by Franciszek Mardula. Mardula worked between 1945 and 1984 in Zakopane, Poland.
This viola has been my own instrument for some years. It is in good condition. Plays nicely, good sound. It is fitted with Wittner fine tuner geared pegs, so no need for fine tuners on the tailpiece, and so easy to tune!
This sale is the viola only, and does not include bow or case.
$6500
Hofner Alfred Stingl AS-260 Cello
This is a full size cello in a good quality in a hard case with bow.
Solid carved manchurian spruce top, flamed himalayan maple back and sides, ruby brown finish, ebony fittings, Hofner maple bridge
It has had perhaps 1 hour use, and is in perfect as new condition. I have put some new Pirastro strings on to replace the strings that it came with.
It comes in an AP case that has wheels and handles for carying or wheeling, so is easily mangaged, for a cello.
$1500

PSR Plus Shoulder Rest
Suits half to full size vioins. Three available.
This is a soft foam pad shaped to make a shoulder rest. It is attached by using rubber bands to hook around the tailpiece peg and bout ends. Works fine if a soft support is needed, or in addition to a shoulder rest.
$5 each.
Petite Plus Shoulder Rest
Suits quarter to eigth size vioins. One available.
This is a soft foam pad shaped to make a shoulder rest. It is attached by using rubber bands to hook around the tailpiece peg and bout ends. Works fine if a soft support is needed. This is often preferred to an actual shoulder rests for small beginner violins.
$5 each.
Viola Case
This will hold a 16" viola and possibly a 16.5" viola, but I don't have one here to try it.
It is a brown crocodile hide type finish, which I think looks great. It is unused, but sitting here for some years.
$100
Violin Case
Full Size violin case. It is unused, but old stock, having been sitting around here for many years.
It is a Styrofoam type case couvered in material. Plush lining inside, with space for two bows and has a hygrometer (these almost never work). It has a few blemishes, but is otherwise in perfect condition.
$100
Suzuki 1/16 or 1/8size violin case
Brand new, perfect condition. I have tried this case with a 1/8 violin that is not a Suzuki, and the case was a fraction to small. Suzuki fractional sizes tend to be a little smaller so a Suzuki 1/8 may fit. A 1/10 or 1/16 will definitely fit.
Price: $30.
Cello Tailpieces
The one shown on the left is the Thomastic Metal Tailpiece with built in adjusters. $20.
The one shown on the right is the Dolfin tailpiece with adjusters. $15
The one shown on the left is a Witner tailpiece suitable for 1/8 and 1/4 size cellos.
Normally $59. This price $30.
The one on the right is a Witner full size cello tailpiece.
Normally $59. This price $30.
Double Bass Tailpiece
Thomastic Tailpiece for 5 string bass, with inbuilt fine tuners. Made in Germany (that always gets'em).
Normally $92. This price $50.
Tailpiece Gut
Gut used traditionally for violin, viola and cello tailpieces. I'm assuming it is not substantial enough for double bass. Double bass seems to work better with steel cable.
This price $5 per meter.
